Fifty //.

There are multiple patterns of juxtapositions and parallels mapped out within the multimedia installation entitled Fifty. Some notable issues include: the relationship between the past, present, and future, relation between viewers body and the environment, physical and mediated experience, and the individual and the group. Fifty encourages an investigation of these relationships by setting up possibilities for simple—yet at times vaguely scientific—exercises. For example: a super 8 film depicts a process of traveling a distance of 50 feet measured out by simple chalk 'x' marks. Similar marks are made on the floor of the gallery, implying a possibility of a kind of reenactment by the audience. Fifty offers a skillful balance of play and thoughtful inquiry. Through subtle manipulation of ideas related to space, distance, and time it highlights a fragile nature of our ability to negotiate body within our environment. Fifty appears to give us conceptual tools to understand, and at the same time effortlessly traps us in paradoxical loops of questions.
