A transducer converts energy from one form to another. Here, an audio voice coil excites the birch bark hollow, transforming it into a speaker membrane. Inspired by the haunting, descending call of the Veery, a migratory bird bridging Boreal/Mixed Hardwood and Amazon forests; Field recordings capture a chorus of forest dwellers: Swainson's Thrush, Magnolia Warbler, Cedar Waxwing, Black-and-white Warbler, Ovenbird, Black-throated Green Warbler, White-throated Sparrow, Red-eyed Vireo, Veery, Common Yellowthroat, Canada Warbler, Black-capped Chickadee, American Robin, Downy Woodpecker, Nashville Warbler, Red-winged Blackbird, and Pileated Woodpecker. Once still and quiet, the Birch bark now echoes the intricate harmonies of its environment.
